Being a fourth generation Californian, we at Morris Construction understand that many people fear an earthquake's wrath that typically causes extensive building structural damage that is beyond anyone's control. What most property owners do not realize, is that their building structures can be better secured by investing in minor structural improvements.
Morris Construction is experienced in retrofitting older building structures as a preventive measure to minimize damage(s) resulting from normal house settling, shifting problems, collapse due to normal earth movement and structural damage during a strong earthquake. The following minor improvements are recommended for every building structure:
-
Install anchor bolts to foundation plates. While this is a mandatory property requirement for many insurance providers, surprisingly most property owners do not know whether or not their building structure is bolted to its foundation;
-
Install sheer walls to underfloor pony walls to better support the building floors above;
-
Install bracing to all posts and beams under the subfloor in the building structure's crawlspace area;
-
Remove and replace undersized supports as necessary for strong deadwood.
Contact Morris Construction and let us help you better understand how you can minimize the risk of expensive structural damage(s) to one of your greatest assets by merely investing in minor building structural improvements. |
